The Extremist Activity series was, in part, a response to the Islamophobic fear of Muslim women who could be hiding "anything" under their veils, as well as a tongue-in-cheek look at the stereotype of Muslim extremeness. Forms worn on the body create and exaggerate voids whilst parodying the proper disclosure of that space. Aydemir's practice engages with issues that intersect with race, religion and gender. Much of her work interrogates the void between body and dress as well as its social and political implications.
